Some runners may choose to just hold their phones in hand out of desperation. This really isn’t a good idea because our hands tend to get sweaty when running, which can make activating your phone’s touchscreen difficult.
Some running shorts come with zipped pockets where you can store your phone conveniently. While this works out well in practice, the truth is that we all have our favourite pairs of running shorts and there’s no denying that many are made without pockets. On top of that, the pocket will need to be deep enough to ensure that your phone doesn’t slip out while you are running.
You might have seen many people running with their phones strapped to their arms. This can be a good option for those who prefer to keep their phone screens visible. One drawback is that it cannot be used in rainy weather, where your phone will need to be protected, and it may weigh down your arm, especially if you are on the smaller side.
Serious runners and marathon runners may already have a sports vest or be considering investing in one. Although they are not cheap, these are pretty lightweight and can be used to store all your essentials, from water bottles to phones, wallet and keys. Some models also come with an adjustable waistband to distribute the weight more evenly. However, these may not be the best option if you are just a casual runner and do not wish to invest in a sports vest.
Another great option for running hands-free with your phone is a crossbody case. When slung tightly enough around your chest, they will not flop up and down while you are running, and your phone remains protected from the elements as well as sweat. This is one of the best options if you are not looking to spend much and find an effective solution to your problem.
